Winnipeg Blue Bombers add six players to open training camp

WINNIPEG — The Winnipeg Blue Bombers opened training camp for quarterbacks and rookies on Wednesday afternoon. It was only a short practice session for the first day of the three day rookie camp.

The club announced the signings of six players prior to the first snaps. Recent draft picks Garrett Waggoner and Addison Richards both finished their paperwork after agreeing to terms earlier in the week. International receivers Greg Childs and David Gettis and linebackers Dominique Franks and Shaquille Richardson have also been added to their training camp roster.

Gettis has 17 games of NFL experience making 37 catches for 508 yards with three touchdowns for the Carolina Panthers.

Franks played five seasons in the NFL with Atlanta and Baltimore racking up 51 tackles and three interceptions.

The Blue Bombers have also released NFL veteran defensive back Ryan Mouton who was acquired in a trade with the Calgary Stampeders back in early May.

The rest of the team will report for physicals on Saturday.
