The CFL supplemental draft is an auction style draft for players who originally hadn’t qualified for National status. Although Waggoner was born in the United States, his father was born in Canada, making him eligible to be a Canadian. And he recently applied for, and received his Canadian citizenship. His father played briefly for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats after being selected in the 6th round of the 1982 draft. While his grandfather also played for the Ti-Cats back in the 50’s.

Garrett is 24-years-old and played five seasons at Dartmouth College.

In 2012 Waggoner won the Bob Blackman Award which is given to the Big Green player who contributed most to the success of the team. His 42 career games played is a record for any Dartmouth football player in school history.
