Frost advisory for Saskatoon, central and southwest Sask.

SASKATOON – Frost advisories have been issued for Saskatoon, central and southwest Saskatchewan Thursday night into Friday morning. Environment Canada says frost may damage some crops in frost-prone areas.

The combination of clear skies and a cold airmass will result in temperatures falling below the freezing mark overnight causing patchy frost across the region.

The agency says frost is expected to be more widespread in the Kamsack and Humboldt regions.

Crop damage may occur in frost-prone areas.

Environment Canada recommends taking preventative measures to protect frost-sensitive plants and trees.

Frost advisories are issued by Environment Canada when temperatures are expected to reach the freezing mark during the growing season, leading to potential damage and destruction to plants and crops.
