WATCH ABOVE: Detective Sergeant Joanne Rudnick, of Sex Crimes, briefs the media about a sexual assault that occurred on Friday.
TORONTO – Toronto police have released a composite sketch of a suspect sought for allegedly sexually assaulting a 24-year-old woman during a home invasion last week.
Police said the victim was in a residence in the Deepwood Cres. and Greenland Rd. area Friday afternoon, when a man entered the home and sexually assaulted her.
The woman, a hired cleaner, was working at the home which is for sale.
“The suspect knocked on the door, and was allowed entry in, in order to view the home,” said Det. Sgt. Joanne Rudnick. “The suspect attacked the victim and sexually assaulted her.”
Police said the man was disturbed by noises coming from outside the home and fled the scene. The woman then left the home and was able to call for help.
While Det. Sgt. Rudnick would not release specifics of the assault, she said the case was “alarming.”
Police are asking the public for help in identifying the man wanted for sexual assault and forcible confinement. Det. Sgt. Rudnick said police would also like to speak with any real estate agents working in that area that day.
“If they have anything that may add anything to this case, give us a call.”
The suspect is described as white, in his mid-20s, 5’8”, 130 lbs., thin build, with straight, medium-length red hair that sticks out at ear level.
Police say he was wearing a faded orange T-shirt torn around the neck area, cut-off blue jean shorts below the knees with frayed edges and black running shoes with white writing.
Toronto police are asking anyone with information to contact them.
