SASKATOON – Another major road project is set to begin in Saskatoon, this time in the north end. Starting next Tuesday, crews will begin resurfacing Wanuskewin Road northbound and both directions of Warman Road between Primrose and Marquis.

As a high-traffic route, construction will take place in 14 phases, lasting about four weeks.

City officials say people should plan an alternate route.

“Anybody in Silverwood can use Russell Road and Spadina Avenue to get to the downtown core as an alternative route,” said Celene Anger with the city.

Anger also suggested carpooling or using Millar Avenue as an alternate route.

The first phase will encompass Wanuskewin northbound, with work taking place between 7 a.m. and 10:00 p.m. Once that work is complete, crews will turn to Warman Drive, with resurfacing to take place at night.

Any work around the 51st Street intersection will happen on weekends to minimize impact on traffic.

Officials say a work zone will be in place for the duration of the project, with detour reconfigurations allowing for maximum traffic accommodation. Barriers will remain in place even when workers are not present if there are roadside hazards, or if pavement or concrete needs to set.
