CALGARY – Tennis players in Calgary will soon have a new state-of-the art facility to toss the ball around.

The Al Osten Buddy Victor Acadia Tennis Centre will house eight indoor courts, six outdoor courts and a viewing gallery for spectators, as well as a mezzanine overlooking the courts that can seat up to 400 viewers.

“This tennis facility will be a game-changer for tennis in Canada,” says Glen Scott, President of Tennis Alberta.

The not-for-profit facility has several cutting-edge features, including lasers that map your serve trajectory and high resolution video imaging for tracking ground stroke motion.

“Western Canada will finally have a world-class tennis facility where we can develop elite tennis players to complete on the world stage,” adds Ron Ghitter, Director of Tennis Canada.

“Tennis is one of the fastest growing sports in Canada and this is a one-of-a-kind project in the country that solidifies Alberta’s position as an emerging tennis province.”

Officials broke ground on the new facility on Friday. The official opening is slated for the spring of 2016.
