WINNIPEG — A forecast full of rain and cooler temperatures isn’t scaring Tiffany Klassen off setting up camp this May long weekend.
“We came out a day early to get some sun,” she said.
Her family secured a site in Birds Hill Park as soon as bookings opened in April.
Their fun doesn’t depend on the weather, she said.

Rain is expected to start Saturday afternoon and continue through the Victoria Day weekend. The temperature is forecast to hit only 8 C on Sunday with a low of -2 C expected.
The sun should return Monday; however, the temperature is only expected to reach 6 C.
Campsite bookings for this weekend are up 20 per cent from previous years.

Manitoba Conservation says it has received around 140 cancellations for campsite reservations. However there have been around 35 new reservations made for the weekend.
In all, 1500 reservations have been made for the long weekend.
