WATCH: Ed Sheeran stops concert for lyrical marriage proposal

TORONTO — Ed Sheeran stopped mid-song during a concert Wednesday in Texas to help a couple get engaged.

“Proposal tonight in Austin,” Sheeran later tweeted. “I might’ve welled up, but don’t say anything.”

The 24-year-old British singer was performing “All of the Stars” when he put his guitar down and invited a man holding a sign to come up on stage.

“I have no idea what’s going to happen next,” Sheeran told the crowd as the man brought his girlfriend to the stage.

What happened next was a proposal peppered with lines from Sheeran songs.

“I’m just thinking out loud here,” the man said, describing his girlfriend as “beautiful, inside and out.”

Sheeran sat back and watched it all go down, clapping excitedly as the man got down on bended knee and asked his girlfriend: “Will you be my wife?”

Spoiler alert: She said yes — and the newly betrothed sealed the deal with a kiss.

Last October, Sheeran watched five marriage proposals take place during one of his concerts in London.

According to the BBC, the singer told the couples: “And don’t forget that when the day comes, Ed is a great name for a baby boy or girl. Edward, Eddie, Edwina, or even Edmund.”
