WATCH: 6-year-old boy dances through chemo treatments

“What do you have to be to beat cancer, Braylon?”

“Be brave.”

That was the exchange between father Jesse Bream and his six-year-old son Braylon who is battling a tumour behind his eye that is slowly taking away his vision.

Through exhausting chemo treatments and tests, the North Carolina boy has inspired many with his positive attitude and brave face.

When Braylon goes in for chemo treatments on Fridays, he usually arrives with a dance routine prepared with his dad.

“We pick a song and we try to work on it at home, and if it doesn’t turn out too well, we’ll wing it,” said Jesse.

Even when the boy is knocked out by the rigorous tests and heavy drugs, he is determined to dance.

After one especially long day that included a three hour long MRI test, Jesse said Braylon woke up from a nap saying, “It’s time to dance.”

Pushing through the pain, Braylon and his back up dancers got down to a tune by Pitbull in front of an audience of hospital staff and fellow patients.

Braylon’s determination and bravery seems to have paid off. His father said the MRI results came back clean.

“His spine was clean and there’s no progression in his optic nerve,” said Jesse through tears. “Just fantastic news. Best news we’ve had in a long time!”
