Global BC anchors make good on NHL playoff wager

CALGARY – The Calgary Flames were able to defeat the Vancouver Canucks in the first round of the 2015 NHL Playoffs, and as such, Global BC Morning News co-hosts Sophie Lui and Steve Darling were forced to make good on a bet they made with their Global Calgary counterparts.

Sophie and Steve made a friendly wager with Global Calgary Morning News co-hosts Amber Schinkel and Scott Fee over the outcome of the series.

If Calgary won, Sophie and Steve would have to ride a mechanical bull while wearing a Flames jersey. If Vancouver won, Scott and Amber would have to do hot yoga while wearing a Canucks jersey.

As we know – the Flames beat Vancouver – so on Friday morning Sophie and Steve were forced to pay off their playoff wager in full.

Both were good sports, hopping on top of the mechanical bull and taking turns riding the motorized beast.

“You guys can’t get enough of it,” joked Scott.

“We wouldn’t have made this bet if we’d known you’d have so much fun with it,” added Amber.

The wager between Morning News anchors wasn’t the only one that was made.

Paul Haysom and Brendan Parker from Calgary’s News Hour Final have made a bet with their counterparts at Global BC.

Because the Flames won, Anne Drewa and Shanel Pratap had to wear Flames jerseys and cowboy hats while they two-steped together.

The Calgary Flames defeated the Vancouver Canucks 7-4 to win the first-round series.
