TORONTO – It’s no secret that iPhone users or Android users can sometimes be fanatical in their devotion to their preferred brand.
And it seems one fan edited Google Maps in order to show their love for Android – or their disgust for Apple.
An image of the Android robot, shaded like parklands on Google Maps, can be seen peeing on the Apple logo about 30 kilometres south of Islamabad, Pakistan.
The image was still visible on both desktops and mobile as of Friday morning.
The image disappears when switching to satellite view.
Google frequently drops so-called ‘Easter eggs’ in its products, like the recent Pac Man game or letting you ride the Loch Ness monster across his lake in Scotland. But the urinating Android bot doesn’t seem to be approved by corporate.
According to Mashable.com, the image may have been the creation of a user abusing the Map Maker tool which allows everyone to contribute to Google Maps.
“Even though edits are moderated, occasionally the odd inaccurate or cheeky edit may slip through our system,” a Google spokesperson said in a statement to Mashable.
