TORONTO – An Oklahoma police officer was at the heart of a 12-vehicle pileup after a hydraulic fluid spill made for one slick highway and some unique dash cam footage.
The unidentified officer was travelling along Highway 75 in Tulsa when the dash cam in his patrol car captured a car in front of him spin out after coming in contact with hydraulic fluid. Seconds later, the cop was spinning too.
“I need cars out here as soon as they can, everyone is crashing,” the officer radioed, according to KOTV.
Eventually the cruiser came to a stop but was facing the opposite direction with cars coming fast in its direction.
“At that point you are at the mercy of everyone coming around that blind corner,” Officer Tim O’Keefe said in a KOTV report.
The released footage shows multiple cars barely miss the cruiser before other vehicles begin to spin out. One truck, that was hauling a trailer, couldn’t stop itself from sliding into the officer’s car.
Eventually the officer found himself at the heart of a 12-vehicle pileup. No injuries were reported but the police vehicle was so damaged it will have to be replaced.
