Police search for suspect after taxi driver choked and punched

CALGARY – Police are looking to the public for help identifying a man believed to be responsible for a violent attack on a taxi driver last year.

It happened around 12:30 a.m. on Sunday, August 10th, 2014.

Police say the taxi driver had picked up a man in the area of Woodpark Boulvard S.W. who he drove to Aboyne Way N.E.

The man paid for his ride and was waiting for his change when it’s alleged he began punching and choking the driver.

The driver honked the car horn, and his attacker ran off on foot.

No robbery attempt was made.

The suspect is described as 5’6” to 5’8” tall with a medium build, unshaven and had red hair. He was wearing a beige long sleeve T-shirt, beige baseball hat and blue jeans.

Police are asking anyone with information to call them or contact Crime Stoppers.
