WATCH: Premature celebration proves costly for runner

TORONTO – If you’re planning on celebrating after winning a race, it’s best that you wait until crossing the finish line and actually win the race.

Tanguy Pepiot, a steeplechase runner for the University of Oregon, was moments away from winning a race last weekend but he started his celebration a little too early.

Nearing the finish line, Pepiot began to wave his arms up and down, pumping up the crowd, while another runner blew past him, taking first place.

Apparently, Pepiot has never read the book The Tortoise and the Hare.
