Pop star Pink responds to comments about her weight

ABOVE: The Morning Show host discusses the online ‘fat-shaming’ of singer Pink.

TORONTO — In her 2006 hit “Stupid Girls,” pop star Pink sang: “I’m so glad that I’ll never fit in.”

So it’s not surprising that when people made nasty comments online about her weight last weekend, Pink was quick to come up with a response that was “F***in’ Perfect.”

The corpulent punishment from strangers came after the 35-year-old singer, whose real name is Alicia Moore, was photographed at a cancer benefit wearing a black dress that showcased her figure.

Some reactions came from people who are as illiterate as they are judgmental. “@Pink fat b**** loose (sic) wait (sic),” read one.

On Sunday, Pink addressed the trolls.

“I can see that some of you are concerned about me from your comments about my weight,” she wrote in a message shared on Twitter.

“While I admit that that dress didn’t photograph as well as it did in my kitchen, I will also admit that I felt very pretty. In fact, I feel beautiful.”

Pink told the commenters not to worry about her.

“I’m not worried about me. I am perfectly fine, perfectly happy, and my healthy, voluptuous and crazy strong body is having some much deserved time off.”

She signed off with: “Love, cheesecake.”

Pink also tweeted that her husband Carey Hart “says ‘it’s just more to love baby’ (and then I smack his hand off my booty cause we’re in a supermarket).”

She said her daughter Willow, who is almost four, grabbed her belly and asked why she is “so squishy.”

“I said ‘b/c I’m happy baby,” Pink shared on Twitter.

Pink’s social media smackdown has attracted a lot of support for the singer. Here’s just a sample of the reactions on Twitter:
