Family asking for public’s help to find missing Abbotsford man

A desperate search is underway for an Abbotsford man who has been missing for more than a week, but the circumstances of his disappearance is only adding to the mystery.

Bhagatpreet (Preet) Singh Khangura was last seen April 3 at the Earl’s restaurant in Chilliwack. His truck, a black 2014 F-350 was found parked near the Fraser River off the Yale Road West exit. The 29-year-old businessman often used the road to unwind and catch up on work.

His family and friends are making a plea to the public for help to find him. They’ve increased a financial reward to $25,000 for information that leads to his whereabouts.

Ever since his disappearance, family and friends spend their days scouring the banks of the Fraser River, meters from where his truck was found abandoned, hoping for some clues that may lead to finding him.

“When I see him again I’m just going to hug him, ” says Amrit Saggu, a childhood friend of Khangura.

Saggu takes part in the searches, and is not giving up hope that one day he will be reunited with his best friend. He says Khangura never had any enemies, and fears he may have stumbled upon something beyond his control.

“We’re concerned that he might have been here when someone was doing something he shouldn’t have seen maybe.”

RCMP are calling this a missing persons case, not a homicide. They also admit nothing has been ruled out. Khangura has no criminal record, no known problems and according to his family he always checked in with his parents.

“He was happy, he was fun loving, he worked very hard and we can’t understand as to his disappearance. He had no reason to disappear,” says Baljit Khangura, the aunt of the missing man, “We haven’t heard anything from him and that’s not like him.”

“If you have any information that can help us find Preet I will love you for the rest of my life and we have a reward for you. And you should know that so many people love Preet. Just help us,” says Saggu.
