Sister of missing Regina woman believes accused serial killer responsible

REGINA –The sister of a missing Regina woman believes an alleged serial killer may have played a role in her disappearance.

Kim Cruickshank disappeared two years ago after she was last seen March 23rd, 2013.

Her sister, Kristen Cruickshank, said she believes Clayton Eichler, a man charged in the murder of two other women, could be responsible.

“When my sister had told me the summer before she went missing that she was hanging out with him, I desperately tried to convince her not to,” she said.  “I can’t say he was the last person in contact with Kim, but he was one of the last few.”

Cruickshank’s missing persons case remains an open file and while Regina Police wouldn’t confirm if Eichler was a suspect in their investigation, they have investigated the possible connection.

“We, like many others, are aware that there is a relationship between Kim Cruickshank and Clayton Eichler and our investigators would not be doing their job if they didn’t explore what that may mean to the investigation,” said Elizabeth Popowich with the Regina Police Service.

Eichler is accused of killing 21-year-old Kelly Goforth.

The 33-year-old also allegedly murdered 23-year-old Richele Bear before having sex with her dead body.

Eichler was also charged last year for violently choking and raping another woman.

While Cruickshank’s sister prays there’s not a connection, she continues to search for answers.

“She was just a really strong woman and had a heart of gold,” she said.  “I had no idea the unknown would make it this much more difficult.”

Eichler has not been convicted in any of the cases mentioned.
