KELOWNA – Washrooms in City of Kelowna parks will open up for the season starting April 1. The only exception is the washroom located at Hot Sands Beach in City Park.  Those facilities are closed for renovations until the end of May. In the meantime, portable toilets at Hot Sands beach are available.

Most washrooms at city-owned parks are closed every winter to prevent pipes from freezing during the cold months of the year. The washrooms at City Park (only the accessible washroom pavilion), Stuart Park and Gerstmar Park are open year-round.

Drinking fountains and water services at off-leash dog parks are also being turned on for the season.

Breaking news from Canada and around the world sent to your email, as it happens.

Residents, however, are being reminded that the City’s sports fields are still closed.  The City says the grass needs to grow and dry out to ensure the best quality turf for the upcoming season. The sports fields are expected to open April 7, weather permitting.
