Michael Nathanson,  the General Manager and artistic director of the Winnipeg Jewish Theatre has been arrested for embezzling over $85,000 dollars.

Between January 2007 and February 2014, the 48 year-old worked at the not-for-profit organization.

Nathanson allegedly exploited his role, stealing the money and then covering up the actions with forged documents indicating the finances were in good order.

Nathanson has dual citizenship and fled to Texas after the thefts were detected early last year.

A Manitoba-Wide-Warrant was issued in January 2015. While re-entering Manitoba Saturday, the outstanding warrant came to light at which time he was placed under arrest.

Nathanson has been charged with theft over $5,000 and forgery.  He remains in police custody.
