Bystander pulls woman from Okanagan Lake

KELOWNA — A bystander pulled a woman to shore from Okanagan Lake in Kelowna just before the noon hour Friday. By the time emergency crews arrived at the small stretch of beach off of Beach Avenue the woman was already on the shore, but the bystander was no where to be found.

The woman was taken to Kelowna General Hospital by Ambulance, but police report she was conscious when she left the scene.

“We’ve yet to locate that witness, so that’s what we’re trying to do now to locate the witness and find out what happened,” says Corporal Steve Woodcox. “At this point we’re just trying to piece together what happened this morning.”

RCMP don’t know why the woman was in the lake, or any further details about the victim.
