HALIFAX – RCMP in Halifax closed off a portion of Highway 2 in the Wellington area because of an early morning house fire on Friday.
RCMP say the house was vacant and there were no injuries, but the structure is now completely destroyed.

The fire was reported at 12:45 a.m., and the home located on Highway 2, between Abilene Avenue and Sunnylea Road, was engulfed in flames by the time fire fighters arrived on scene.
RCMP closed the portion of the highway in the area as crews work to fight hot spots.
The cause of the fire is unknown. RCMP say fire marshals will start investigating once it is safe to do so.
