Final arguments in Kristopher Guenther murder trial set for Monday

CALGARY – The cross-examination of Kristopher Guenther, charged with first-degree murder in the death of his ex-fiancée, wrapped up in a Calgary court Thursday.

Lacey Jones-McKnight was killed Oct. 25, 2012, after what Guenther described as an argument over infidelity.

The Crown alleges Guenther repeatedly choked Jones-McKnight before putting her body in his car.

Guenther testified he never meant to kill her and was only trying to restrain her during a fight.

The trial has gone on for three weeks and has included very difficult testimony, including from the victim’s mother, Shelly Jones. Court also released two 911 calls from the night of Jones-McKnight’s death.

Final arguments in the trial will be made on Monday.
