A young bald eagle found six months ago floundering off the coast of Nanoose Bay has died of her injuries.
“Nanoose”, rescued last September by a fisherman who noticed she was slowly sinking, was unable to recover from her significant ailments.

“Sometimes, no matter what we do for our patients, they are just not able to respond to treatment. She was treated for an ecoli infection, anemia, and ongoing emaciation,” wrote the Orphaned Wildlife Rehabilitation Society on March 5.
“There were tears at O.W.L today, as we became very close to her.”
The O.W.L had been taking care of Nanoose in Delta ever since her dramatic rescue, which was captured on camera. At the time, she had a throat infection and was severely malnourished.
A necropsy will be done to determine her exact cause of death.
“She is free of any struggle now, and we will miss her,” wrote the O.W.L.
