WINNIPEG – Instead of suffering from frostbite, Winnipeggers could soon be soothing sunburns.
“It has been a while since I’ve seen some decently warm temperatures. We’re finally getting back into them,” said meteorologist Jay Anderson.
The first week of November was the last time Winnipeg had multiple days of above freezing temperatures.
“By the time next month, we won’t have any snow on the ground, likely, unless we get some doozer of a blizzard, which we don’t see coming at all,” said Anderson.
Warm enough to shed winter clothing and spend hours outdoors.
Even warmer temperatures are ahead, Environment Canada predicts, with forecasts as high as 9 C this week in Winnipeg. Record highs could be set in other parts of the province.
And double-digit temperatures may start this coming weekend.
“If we manage to melt some of this snow around us between now and then … we could easily go above plus 10 on Sunday,” said Anderson.
