PENTICTON — The Penticton community is rallying behind Kaylee Kozari-Bowland, 16, who is battling a rare and aggressive cancer. She’s run out of treatment options in Canada and her family is looking into an expensive trial in Texas.

Minor hockey teams helped the cause Saturday, launching a donation challenge to raise funds to pay for the expensive treatment.
The Green Stars minor hockey team challenged other teams and businesses to raise money for Kozari-Bowland. Players and coaches also accepted donations throughout the day outside of Walmart.
“It’s hard to ignore,” says Green Stars manager, Andy Kilduff. “I’m a father of three kids. It’s just touching to me. When we heard of her story, Penticton is a small community, we wanted to do our part.”
The day-long event raised more than $2,500. Kozari-Bowland needs roughly $200,000 for the treatment in Texas. You can support her cause by clicking here.
