Justin Bieber tells ‘Men’s Health’ about working out, growing up

TORONTO — Two months after showing off his chiseled physique in a series of Calvin Klein ads, Canadian pop star Justin Bieber is flexing his muscles for Men’s Health magazine.

Bieber, who turned 21 on March 1, is boasting that the photos are not retouched.

“It’s not Photoshopped! For all you fools out there saying it’s Photoshopped,” the singer said in a video that goes behind the scenes of the photo session with Peter Hapak.

Bieber said he’s thrilled to be getting attention for getting in shape and revealed he lifts weights five times a week with trainer Patrick Nilsson.

He said the Calvin Klein campaign is still hard to believe.

“I never thought I’d see my own billboard on Sunset, in Hollywood. I remember just thinking that I’d never even go to Hollywood, living in a small town in Canada, just like watching TV,” he said. “That was never even a thought.”

Bieber also spoke to Men’s Health about his personal life (“I’m very much a relationship guy. I like having a real connection”) and what clothing makes a woman sexy (“jean shorts and a tank top. Or Spandex”).

He opened up about achieving fame and fortune early in his life.

“I had to grow up so quick,” he said. “And it was almost like I grew up for the public, but I didn’t necessarily grow up.

“You feel like you wanna grow up and you gotta prove yourself. Hey, man, you don’t need to prove yourself. I didn’t know that, though.”

Bieber admitted he still doesn’t feel grown up.

“It’s funny. I still feel…like a kid. I just still feel young,” he told the magazine.

The singer also acknowledged his headline-making bad behaviour.

“This has really been a big year for me, as far as figuring stuff out,” said Bieber. “This is almost like a full 180 from how I was. Yesterday — a year from yesterday — I was in jail.”

He insisted he is learning from his mistakes.

“I’m a human being. It’s good to be a bit easy on yourself. Not that you’re just like doing whatever you want, but easy on yourself in that you’re not going to figure everything out overnight, and figure everything out on your own,” Bieber explained.

“You’re going to need help, and you’re going to need time.”

But Bieber said he is proud of the man he has become.

“I’ve always been different,” he said, “and I haven’t been afraid to be different.”
