5 charged in drug trafficking ring in Calgary’s southwest

CALGARY – Calgary Police have charged five people in relation to a drug trafficking operation run out of a residence in the 1700 block of 28 Street S.W.

A seven-week investigation led to a search of the property on Feb. 26, where police found drugs, drug trafficking tools, firearms and stolen property.

One suspect was injured when he jumped from a second story window to try to avoid arrest, but was taken into custody and treated for his injuries.

Police found over $10,000 worth of drugs including cocaine, heroin, methamphetamine, fentanyl, steroids, marijuana, hash oil and 60 unknown pills. A shotgun, two airsoft replica handguns and six stolen vehicles were also recovered.

Alan Ray McAbee, 35, was charged with seven counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking, three firearms charges and for various other outstanding warrants, say police.

Maria Angelica Tassone, 32, was charged with seven counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking, five firearm charges and one count of possession of stolen property.

Eric Winston Miller, 43, was charged with five counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking and for various other outstanding warrants.

William Leonard Hazelwanter, 32, was charged with three counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking, one count of possession of stolen property over $5,000 (in relation to a stolen vehicle), and another outstanding warrant.

Appollonia Lynnorish Stump, 26, was charged with three counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking.

All suspects are from Calgary, except Miller, who is from Morley.
