WOLFVILLE, N.S. – Public health officials say 84 per cent of the 3,500 students living on campus at Acadia University have received the first dose of a vaccination against the B strain of meningococcal meningitis.
Another vaccination clinic is scheduled to be held at the school in Wolfville, N.S., on Friday for students who have not yet received the first dose of vaccination.
Clinics for the second dose will be held on campus starting March 30.
Annapolis Valley District Health says it is pleased with the turnout for the clinics and it is working with the school to identify students who received the first dose of the vaccination from their health-care provider.
The clinics were set up after two students were confirmed to have the B strain of the disease.
One was recovering but the other student died on Feb. 1.
