CALGARY – Muslim leaders in Calgary are reaching out to the community.
Dozens of people gathered at the Beddington Heights Community Arts Centre Sunday afternoon to discuss Muslim families, traditions and cultures.
The meeting is part of an effort to bridge the gaps and remove misconceptions about Islam and Muslims.
Organizers say it’s equally important to reach out to people of all walks of life and make sure there is support for vulnerable people.
“It’s become more important now because of the terrorist activities conducted by the mislead Muslims. So we believe Muslims need to be taught, they need to be guided and non Muslims have to be informed,” Sultan Mahmood from the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at said.
Another meeting took place Sunday at the Baitun Nur mosque.
The Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at Canada has launched a nationwide campaign ‘Meet a Muslim Family’ to connect Canadians with their fellow Muslims.
