Name on wreath at Leonard Nimoy’s Walk of Fame star drops ‘y’

TORONTO – As the reasoned and logical centre of the original Star Trek, Leonard Nimoy’s Mr. Spock would no doubt have found this error… fascinating.

A wreath left by the actor’s star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame Friday afternoon in the hours following news of his passing contained a most illogical error.

The banner surrounding the wreath read “Leonard Nimo.”

And unless this was some sort of reference to a long-lost relative of 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea’s famous sea captain, it likely was a typo.

The flowers are placed on stars by the Hollywood Historic Trust on behalf of the Hollywood community.

To their credit, the error was quickly spotted and a proper banner was added to the wreath – but not before news cameras captured a shot of the unfortunate error.

Nimoy’s wife Susan and son Adam confirmed the actor died of end-stage chronic obstructive pulmonary disease Friday afternoon.

Nimoy revealed last year he had the disease, which he blamed on years of smoking.

And while it seems like a strange error to make, we doubt the emotionless Mr. Spock would have cared very much about the minor mistake.

After all, as Captain Kirk once reminded him, “Everybody’s human.”

Then again, Spock was quick to rebut him: “I find that remark…insulting.”
