TORONTO – The City of Toronto and most parts of Southern Ontario remain under an extreme cold warning as a result of a sharp arctic cold front making its way through the region Monday.
Environment Canada says minimum temperatures will push wind chills between minus 30 to minus 40 this morning.
People planning to be outdoors are being advised to dress appropriately and exercise caution as exposed skin may freeze in as little as 10 minutes.
The wind chill is expected to diminish Monday afternoon as temperatures rise in the afternoon.
But many areas will it dip back to near minus 30 again Monday night as the frigid arctic air mass prevails over the region.
Toronto’s Medical Officer of Health extended an extreme cold weather alert for the city on Sunday.
Extra services and shelter spaces are available to the vulnerable and homeless during the advisory.
