Death of 49-year-old man is Vancouver’s 2nd homicide of the year

VANCOUVER – The death of a 49-year-old man on Feb. 11 is Vancouver’s second homicide of the year.

Just before 4 a.m. on Wednesday, paramedics were called after a person was found on the sidewalk on Hastings near Columbia Street, bleeding and unresponsive.

The man was rushed to hospital and was later pronounced dead.

Investigators treated the death as suspicious and began collecting evidence, gathering video and speaking with potential witnesses.

Autopsy results confirmed the death as a homicide. The victim has been identified as Vancouver resident Lorne Joseph Melting-Tallow.
