HALIFAX – A Maitland, NS man will be in court, Wednesday, to face child luring charges.
Alexander John Ernst, 29, was arrested on Feb. 6, 2015 following a report from a parent who told RCMP that the accused had allegedly contacted his 10 and 12-year-old daughters via social media.
The complaint prompted an investigation led by the RCMP’s Provincial Internet Child Exploitation Unit. In a press release Sgt. Alain LeBlanc said investigators identified two other victims who had been chatting with the accused, and had made arrangements to meet with him in person.
To date, police have identified six girls under the age of 16 that Ernst has been in contact with, said Sgt. LeBlanc. All of the girls are from the Bridgewater area.
RCMP said they believe Ernst may have been in contact with more young girls from the area. They are asking anyone with information to contact the Bridgewater RCMP at (902) 527-5555.
