Two women robbed at knifepoint in East Vancouver

WATCH: Police say two women were robbed by a suspect who took off and remains at large. Jeremy Hunka reports.

Two women were left shaken up after being robbed at knifepoint late Saturday.

Vancouver police said the two women, aged 25 and 30, were waiting for a bus on Prior Street near Campbell Avenue at about 11:30 p.m. on Jan. 31.

The women were approached by a man armed with a large butcher knife and demanded their valuables.

The male suspect fled westbound on Prior Street by foot after getting one of the victim’s bags.

“We don’t see a lot of instances like this happen in the community when somebody is out minding their own business,” says Sgt. Randy Fincham. “It’s obviously very shocking to have someone jump out the bushes with a large knife in their hands.”

“Both women are extremely traumatized with what happened.”

The man is described as Caucasian, 30 to 40 years old, 5’10” tall with an athletic build. He was wearing a black rain jacket and his face was covered with a red bandana.

If anyone has information about this robbery, they’re asked to call Vancouver police.
