EDMONTON — A 47-year-old man was taken to hospital with a serious leg injury after a mid-air plane crash about 10 kilometres northwest of Bashaw Sunday morning.
RCMP say two single-engine homebuilt kit airplanes were travelling from Carstairs to Red Deer Lake when they collided.

One of the planes crashed in a field in the area of Township Road 424 and Range Road 221. The other plane landed safely.
One of the pilots was taken by STARS Air Ambulance to the University of Alberta Hospital in Edmonton with a serious leg injury. The other pilot suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene.
Trasport Canada has taken over the investigation.
Bashaw is located about 135 kilometres southeast of Edmonton.
