WINNIPEG – The price of natural gas will drop about 5.5 per cent, or $50 a year, for the average Centra Gas customer after the Manitoba Public Utilities Board approved a rate cut.
Centra Gas Manitoba’s application to cut the primary gas rate from 16.65 cents per cubic metre to 12.52 cents per cubic metre was approved Thursday. The price cut will go into effect Sunday.
Rates for those who have signed fixed-term, fixed-price contracts will not benefit from the rate cut – their price will remain the same.
The last time rates changed was Nov. 1, when they rose about five per cent.
