VANCOUVER – Premier Christy Clark raised some eyebrows on Thursday with only a few words.
First she called her teenage son lazy, then she dragged New Democrats down to the same level.
“My son is 13,” said Clark. “And when you look at a 13-year-old, a teenager generally, I don’t know about you but the first thing that comes to my mind is lazy.”
“My son recently said to me ‘I said to him, hey listen you spilled that water on the couch, can you clean it up please? And he looked at me and he went you know mom, I’m pretty sure that that water’s going to dry on its own’.”
Clark went on to say that someone told her, her son is a teenager and it’s just a natural thing for him to do.
“It’s OK now,” said Clark. “But when your son is 31 years old and he’s still sitting on the couch, and he’s asking you to clean up after him, and he doesn’t want to get up and do anything, and he doesn’t have any ambition for the future, and he just really really doesn’t have the expectation for himself.”
“By the time he’s 31 years old, if he’s still doing that, he’s no longer a teenager, he’s a New Democrat.”
Clark has faced some criticism in the past few weeks, with many asking where she has been. She did take to Twitter on Monday night to comment on ‘jerseygate’, saying most Canadians would rather be arrested than put on a Maple Leafs jersey.
And it seems like she was in a joking mood on Thursday as well.
