In an unscripted moment during the State of the Union speech Tuesday, U.S. President Barack Obama silenced derisive applause from hecklers who cheered when he said “I have no more campaigns to run.”
One of the concluding sections of Obama’s speech was supposed to end with:
“That’s a better politics. That’s how we start rebuilding trust. That’s how we move this country forward. That’s what the American people want. That’s what they deserve. I have no more campaigns to run.”

As Obama attempted to proceed to the next sentence following “I have no more campaigns to run” Republicans delivered a thunderous round of applause.
Obama quickly fired back with an impromptu response that garnered an equally positive response from Democrats in attendance.
“I know because I won both of them,” he said with a smile before returning to his prepared remarks.
“My only agenda for the next two years is the same as the one I’ve had since the day I swore an oath on the steps of this Capitol: to do what I believe is best for America. If you share the broad vision I outlined tonight, join me in the work at hand,” he said.
