REGINA – Saskatchewan’s Opposition is criticizing the government for the condition of schools across the province.

NDP finance critic Trent Wotherspoon says leaky roofs and generally run-down buildings require a long-term strategic plan for repairs.

The NDP cited a 2013 report from the Saskatchewan School Boards Association, which said 75 per cent of school roofs would fail within five years.

The Opposition also says inspections in one Saskatoon-area division showed five schools aren’t safe because of structural problems.

Wotherspoon says the government needs to make a schedule that lists and prioritizes all necessary school repairs.
