WINNIPEG – Some residents in West Kildonan are getting frustrated with road conditions on side streets, saying they haven’t seen a snowplow come through all winter. With the recent mild temperatures in Winnipeg, residents are concerned about driving in the slippery and bumpy conditions.

“Sometimes you go on some streets and you hit kind of a rut, and you get bounced over to one side or the other,” said Clarence Gabriel, who has lived in the area for more than 20 years.

Many residents said sidewalk clearing has been better than last year.

The city said the following in an email to Global News:

“Currently, Priority 1 and 2 streets have been addressed with salting/sanding over the weekend. Crews are spot plowing, as required. Priority 3 (Residential) streets are currently being monitored with sanding and spot plowing where required. If residents on the streets you mentioned would like to inquire as to the snow clearing operations on their streets, they can contact 311, who will submit an inquiry with the department.”
