REGINA – The mother of a woman at the centre of a public complaint against the Regina Police Service has seen the surveillance video from her daughter’s apartment building – and it clearly shows her daughter had no coat and boots when she arrived.

Lisa Dustyhorn was shown the video by the Public Complaints Commissioner and says it shows her daughter, 25 year-old Brooke Watson, being pushed out of a truck by two unknown people. She was not wearing a coat or boots in frigid weather.

Originally, the mother of Lisa Dustyhorn was accusing two male officers of driving her 25-year-old daughter away from the city on January 4th, taking her coat and boots, and threatening to leave her outside “to die.”

Despite acknowledging that part of the story was not accurate, Dustyhorn still maintains the Police officers acted inappropriately when they drove her daughter around for 30 minutes before heading to the police station. Regina Police say they tried to find friends or family that they could safely drop her off with, but Dustyhorn still thinks that doesn’t add up.

“They drove her around for way too long, I don’t know if they were trying to scare her straight, or sober her up, but they should have explained it to her. We have no family where they went,” Dustyhorn told Global News.

Dustyhorn says Police told her they’re now seeking the people driving the truck for more information. Her daughter was scheduled to meet with the Commissioner again today but Dustyhorn says this latest revelation has upset her daughter so much she’s not likely to attend.
