Many British Columbians are bracing for their wallets to be squeezed in the new year as a variety of fee and tax increases come into effect.
As of Jan. 1, MSP premiums are going up anywhere from $23 to $96.
At the beginning of April, hydro rates will rise six percent. That’s about $72 for the average home.
ICBC rates will jump by an average of $36.
Rates at BC Ferries will go up by almost four percent.
EI and CPP will rise by $23.
Finally, property taxes in a number of cities are projected to soar by anywhere between $150 and $200.
