A 78 year-old woman has been killed while crossing a street in Vancouver.
It happened around 8:30 p.m. on Christmas Day near Kingsway Avenue at Earles Street when a car traveling north on Earles made a left turn onto Kingsway and hit the woman in the crosswalk.
Police say the woman was knocked to the ground and and suffered a serious head injury. She was taken to hospital, but later died.
The driver, a 54-year-old Vancouver man, remained at the scene and is cooperating with the police investigation.
Alcohol and speed do not appear to be factors.
