Saskatoon man dies after being electrocuted in workplace accident

REGINA – SaskPower confirmed one of their employees was killed in a workplace accident in northern Saskatchewan on Saturday.

Wakaw RCMP responded to a SaskPower worksite south of the town of Wakaw around 9:30 p.m.

Officials explained that employees were restoring service to a high voltage transmission line when a 45-year-old Saskatoon man was injured by the line.

He was transported to Rosthern Hospital and pronounced dead upon arrival.

In a statement, SaskPower said their “thoughts are with the family, close friends and co-workers at this difficult time.”

Provincial Occupational Health and Safety officers as well as SaskPower safety officers are investigating the accident and remain on site.

RCMP said there is no foul play suspected in the incident.
