Rockets dump oil Kings

EDMONTON — The Kelowna Rockets defeated the Edmonton Oil Kings 4-1 on Tuesday night at Rexall Place in Edmonton, moving to 3-1-0-0 on its current five game road trip.

Four different Rockets scored while Jackson Whistle stopped 26 of 27 shots as the Rockets improved to a WHL-best 27-5-3-0 on the season.

Justin Kirkland, Cole Linaker, Rodney Southam and newly acquired Gage Quinney, with his second of the road trip, paced the Rockets offense.

Cole Martin had three assists while Lucas Johansen and Kirkland each had two helpers.

Kelowna struck for two power play goals on four chances while keeping Edmonton to a 1-for-6 night with the man advantage.

The Rockets close out its five game WHL Central Division road trip Wednesday night in Red Deer, before the team will break for Christmas.

Kelowna returns to Prospera Place for two games this holiday season, playing Kamloops on Dec. 27 and Prince George on Dec. 30.
