KELOWNA — A Kelowna man is recovering after being rocked by an explosion that nearly blew his garage door off.

The incident happened at 311 Woodpark Crescent — in the Knox Mountain, Clifton Road area — where the man had been working on his car when all of a sudden there was an explosion.

“He was working on a vehicle in the garage — the fuel tank — when somehow the fuel tank dropped, sparked and blew up,” says Kelowna Fire Platoon Captain, Tim Light.

Neighbour Mystaya Arthur heard the blast.

“I noticed he had mainly just first degree burns but he wasn’t too badly injured. They took him to the hospital.”

A boat parked just outside the garage also caught fire as a result of the blast and appeared to be heavily damaged.
