WATCH: Crane disaster doesn’t foil romantic proposal

He’s not your average Romeo.

A man in IJsselstein, Netherlands planned an elaborate proposal to his girlfriend before things went very wrong on Saturday.

The unnamed man planned to surprise the woman by dropping down on a crane right in front of her bedroom window and pop the question.

Unfortunately, the unanchored crane toppled over and smashed through the roof of a neighbouring house.

Romeo was able to climb down to safety, but the damage had been done.

To make matters worse, as two more cranes were attempting to lift the fallen one out of the roof, a cable snapped, dropping the toppled crane back down on the house, escalating the damage.

Despite the unexpected disaster, the woman said “yes,” and the pair whisked off to a romantic Parisian getaway.

Officials are determining whether the damaged house will need to be demolished once the cleanup is complete.
