New Year’s Eve transit hours extended in Calgary

CALGARY – Calgary Transit has announced extended operating hours for select bus routes and LRT lines on New Year’s Eve.

Director Doug Morgan made the announcement on Wednesday, saying major bus routes out of downtown and the CTrain will be running until about 3 a.m.

Morgan is calling the extended hours a pilot project. He says the city will examine how Calgarians take advantage of the extended hours of service and see if anything needs to be tweaked.

“It was based on feedback from customers,” said Morgan. “Last year, we heard that they want an option on New Year’s Eve… they want something different from Calgary Transit.”
