VERNON–A burst pipe has created quite the problem for an organization that provides 300 meals a day for the needy in Vernon.

This was the scene at the Upper Room Mission on 27th Avenue late Monday night.

A pipe burst on the top floor of the two story building, causing the sprinklers to go off.

There is considerable damage to the main floor where they were using shovels to remove the water.

The basement is said to have at least six inches of water.

The mission provides three meals a day to seniors, the disabled and the homeless in Vernon.

Executive Director, Rick Lavin, says several of the Mission’s clients have been assisting with the clean up.
