Detached garage catches fire in Pacific Heights

SASKATOON – Saskatoon Fire Department was called to a report of a garage fire in the Pacific Heights neighbourhood at 2:40 p.m. Sunday. Crews arrived at 3822 Centennial Drive to find heavy smoke and flame showing from a two-car detached garage.

Crews confirmed that there were no people in the structure and began an offensive attack, bring the blaze under control in about 22 minutes. Fire department officials say a car and a couple of motorcycles inside the garage impeded their progress.

An investigator said the cause of the fire was a portable heater fan being used in the garage. Damage is estimated at $70,000.

No injuries were reported.
